Video: An easy way to split each group into a separate worksheet tab with ASAP Utilities

In addition to my previous post, a short video that shows a demonstration of the new "Split the selected range into multiple worksheets..." utility.
The video is in HD quality and for best quality I recommend to watch it on full screen:

The above video is without sound.
For me this is also a test with the "new" HD quality of Youtube which should make Youtube more suitable for these screencasts.)

  1. Hi Bastien,

    1. As desired earlier too, I wish the improvement in "Start each word with Uppercase". Many a times there are special characters or numbers in the Sentence due to which the desired character is not changed to Uppercase (or if already in Uppercase, it is changed to Lowercase). I wish there could be something like "Advanced Case Changes" on the pattern of "Advanced Text Removal" where we could select which character should be ignored when changing the word to Uppercase / Lowercase / Sentence case etc. There can also be something like pattern matches (like wild card characters patterns in Filter / Find) which can be considered / ignored while changing case, e.g., *(* should be considered for changing case i.e., any character which appears after start bracket should also be changed to Uppercase.

    2. Utility to change to tOGGLE case.

    3. Insert after a number of characters. There is very handy such tool available in "Ultimate.xla" under the "Range->Text Tools" menu. As an improvement over that there can be insertion of multiple text strings at / after the specified Number of Characters / Character / pattern of Characters.

    Asking for too much :)

  2. Hi Bastien,

It seems the (ASAPUtilities_setup_4-6-4_RC5.exe) latest version when installed, unloads all the add-ins. I installed it on two systems and the same thing happened.

  3. Hello Kanwaljit,

Thank you for your email and suggestions.

I'm sorry to hear about this issue.
In theory it is impossible that ASAP Utilities unloads other add-ins because we have no code in the setup that does anything with add-ins other then ASAP Utilities itself.

However, could it be that you had the old ASAP Utilities 4.6.1 RC3 installed and then uninstalled that before installing the new version? This file was on our website for a couple of hours on August 18th before the error was corrected and the file was taken offline and replaced by 4.6.1 RC4. That particular 4.6.1 RC3 setup had an error which caused it to turn off the COM-addins registered in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\Excel\Addins\ (but not any regular add-ins). We corrected it within a couple of hours but that might be too late in your case. If you uninstalled that version instead of just running the setup of the newer version, the old but might have surfaced.
This is the only explanation I have for this.
Can it be that that was the case in your situation?

    Kind regards,

  4. Hi Bastien,

May the Family Live 1000 Years !

That infact is not the issue ! I had installed ASAP Utilities 4.6.1 RC1 and then I installed ASAP Utilities 4.6.1 RC5. What infact happened that When I installed ASAP Utilities 4.6.1 RC5, all the add-ins including the ASAP disappeared from the Excel menu, though they were present in Tools-Add ins List. Then I manually unticked and ticked the ASAP Add-ins in the Add-ins List in Tools-Addins and ASAP started to appear in the Excel menu. Then I used ASAP-System-Reload all the addins and all the add-ins were added to excel menu. That might sound illogical but that is what exactly happened.

  5. Hello Kanwaljit,

Thank you for your quick feedback!
Just to be sure, I assume you mean 4.6.4, not 4.6.1.
I'm glad to read that that was not the issue.

What you experienced is very strange. I have absolutely no explanation for that.
Which version of Excel do you use? I do know that Excel 2007 can sometimes be very unpredictable.
But since you mention the "Tools" menu, can I assume that you have Excel 2003? It seems that something has either reset the menu or just prevented the add-ins from creating their entries in the menu. However, in ASAP Utilities there is no code that does that.
Incredibly strange. I have no logical explanation for this and I am unable to reproduce this too.

    Kind regards,

  6. Hi Bastien,

May the Family Live 1000 Years !

The Latest version released by you on 2 Nov 2010 should be 4.6.4 RC7 as mentioned, but after installation I noticed that version info on the ASAP-Info screen is showing it as 4.6.4 RC6. After all I couldn't find anything else so I HAD TO REPORT it (Perfectionist……..) :)

  7. Hello Kanwaljit,

Thank you for your quick feedback.
I see that I updated the date in the program but had forgotten to update the RC version number. Sharp!
Did you have any problems with the installation this time?

    Kind regards,
