Let me start by saying how wonderful I think your program is. It saves me a lot of time.
I just created 100 sheets and named them from a list using ASAP -great!
I then inserted the name of each sheet into a cell within the sheet using ASAP -fantastic!

Here's my problem:
In sheet one, I'd like to enter a formula in A2 and be able to copy it to A2 in the other 99 sheets. Can ASAP help me with this?
I'd also like to be able to do this with a value in A3.

Well, this can already be done with just Excel.

If you want to enter the same formula on all 100 sheets, just select all the sheets and then enter the formula in A2... However, instead of pressing Enter at the end, press Control+Enter at the end. That way the formula will be entered in all selected cells, also the same cell-address on the other selected sheets.
You can also use this Ctrl+Enter to enter the same value in all selected cells on the same sheet.

In case you're curious, the user used the following two tools to quickly create all the sheets:
Insert multiple sheets (uses the cell values as sheet names)...
For example: "Hello, is it possible to change the Ctrl + Alt + J shortcut to something else?" Often because people already use the same shortcut for their own macro. Well, you can already do this easily the past 8 years (already since version 3.0.6 from September 2003)

How to change the shortcuts

You can easily change the shortcut to whatever you like via:
ASAP Utilities » Favorites & Shortcuts » Organize your favorite tools...

By using and customizing the Favorites menu and assigning your own shortcuts you can quickly access the tools you use the most frequently. And in Excel 2000, 2002 and 2003, you can also create a toolbar with your favorites tools.

As you probably already know, Excel itself doesn't have a option for this. It can be a time consuming job to save each worksheet as a separate workbook.

Fortunately it is very easy to do with the following tool from ASAP Utilities:

Especially the function to calculate the SUM of cells with a certain color is a popular request and still can't be done in Excel itself without the use of a macro or add-in.

In the new version of ASAP Utilities (4.6.4), which is available as a pre-release, we have included a tool to easily splits your data into separate sheets.

Sheets » Split the selected range into multiple worksheets...
With this tool you can quickly split your data into multiple sheets.
You can do this either by value, for example to create a new sheet for each company, or you can specify the number of rows to create per sheet.

In the following example the "For every new value/group in column" option is chosen on Column A (Brand). This means that the utility creates a new sheet when the brand name changes and the is copied to the new worksheet.

We have also received the request for this tool from people that used workbooks with over 500 000 rows (Excel 2007/2010) and then needed to open the information in Excel 2003. In order to do that they had to split the information into pieces of a max of 65536 rows because that is the maximum amount of rows that a sheet in Excel 2003 can contain. Now, with this tool you can do that much faster.

Note:

Your original worksheet remains unaltered.
If you want to save the new created worksheets as separate files, then you can do this with the utility "Export » Export worksheets as separate files..."

Download pre-release version 4.6.4

In standard Excel you can't set the height or with of cells in centimeters or inches. Creating square cells is also difficult because Excel uses different units for the width and height of cells.

Setting the width and height in centimeters or inches can be helpful if you use the Excel for drawing purposes, such as creating a flowchart or when you design your garden or want to see if your furniture fits in your new apartment. The nature of a spreadsheet with it cells makes ideal graph paper.

I have created a macro to do this for myself years ago when I used to make a lot of flowcharts. Recently I was asked if it could be done in ASAP Utilities, so that was for me the reason to add it to the ASAP Utilities toolset.

With the new tool "Set the width and height of cells in centimeters or inches" you can now quickly set the row height and column width in centimeters or inches:

Due to limitations of how precise you can set the width and height in Excel the actual width and height might differ a tenth of a centimeter/inch. Furthermore I have experienced myself that despite the cells are square, in my printout the height of the cells seem to be a bit smaller then the width. This also happened if I drew a rectangle of 1 by 1 centimeter.

When I looked for more information about this when writing this post, I found the following articles which are interesting to read:

At this moment ASAP Utilities already contains several tools to manage duplicates.
However a special tool for duplicate records was still missing... until now!

You could already identify or remove duplicated records with a workaround by merging the cell contents into a temporary added column and then use ASAP Utilities' "Conditional row and column select, hide or delete..." tool on this new column to remove the duplicated rows. But that involved a few extra steps and it isn't as fast as this new utility.

In the new version of ASAP Utilities you will be able to quickly remove all duplicated records from your sheet:

Besides removing the duplicates from a single sheet, you can also choose the option "Remove the records from Dataset 1 that are found identical in Dataset 2". This can for example be used if you have two sheets with addresses and the persons on one of the sheets have already be contacted. You can then remove those from the first sheet to get a list of people that still need to be contacted.

You can also choose the following options:

Case sensitive.
If you choose this option then the comparison is made case senstive. This means for example that "Bastien" does not equal "BASTIEN".

Ignore leading, trailing and excessive spaces (example: "bastien" equals " bastien")
If you choose this option than it doesn't matter if some cells have irregular spacing. This can be useful if the data isn't always entered properly. Especially trailing spaces sometime cause problems when it comes to comparing lists.

Hide the rows instead of removing them
